CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge #15…again

I loved this week’s sketch from Case(e) this sketch so much…this is my second card.  I just couldn’t help myself, this sketch is so adorable and simple.

I chopped off the the top of a Papertrey Ink mat stack die cut and die cut a butterfly inside.  I backed the matstack with corrugated white paper, added a brad, twine and some buttons.  And embossed a Papersmooches sentiment.

CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge #15

Helllllo again blog world!! I took a bit of a break from the blog…but I am back! I discovered this lovely (new to me) clean and simple challenge site….Case(e) this sketch. I am totally loving all the sketches and felt quite inspired to play along this week.

I made this card for my friend’s upcoming 30th birthday.  She loves cats and sparkles and bright colors.

My super cute husband got me the Critters in the Burbs stamp set from Lawn Fawn for Valentine’s Day.  He picked me out a stamp set instead of flowers. And he actually went into the craft store all by himself to pick it out. Adorbs, right!?!  So I stamped and cut out the cat image and popped it up onto a little sentiment flag.  Added a few other do-dads and that was it!

It’s good to be back crafty blog world! And I have no idea how to shrink the sketch image below.  Sorry it’s so gigantic.

Cas-ual Fridays {text me}

Eeek! This week over at Cas-ual Fridays they are searching for a guest designer! And the theme is to use text.  I haddddd to play along.  There was no option!! So despite the heat, I made this card using text paper from October Afternoon’s Thrift Shop paper pad.

I’ve seen Dawn McVey use banners as “leaves” and I think it’s so cute and clever, I had to do it myself.  And I can’t resist hexagons and paint splatter! I need an intervention!

Retro Sketches {18}

I’ve been admiring the sketches over at Retro Sketches for quite a while.  Finally I had some time this morning to join in.  I am kind of obsessed with the hexagon trend lately.  I picked up this Dienamics Hexagon die a couple weekends ago….love, love, love it.   I also can’t seem to stop flicking Mr. Huey’s all over my cards.

I cut out three flowers from the patterned paper and glued them randomly on the hexagons.  Now that I’m looking closely, I see that my Mr. Huey’s blob kind of resembles a flower too, and it’s not in a “good” spot.  Buuuut, I suppose the imperfections are part of the fun of the splattery look.

Pretty Little Studio {Sketch Challenge 49}

How have I just discovered Pretty Little Studio?!??!?!?! I spent a ridiculous amount of time on their blog, gallery, and website looking in their on-line shop yesterday.  And I am in love with ALL of their products.  They use the most adorably whimsical vintage images and all sorts of lovely paper goodies.  I will most certainly be ordering some once my shell shock has worn off a bit.  I was thrilled to find they offer several printable products for free, such as this tag!  So I quickly printed it out and ran to make a card, using this week’s sketch challenge for inspiration!

The sketches are suited very well for scrapbook layouts.  But those intimidate me.  I am however, re-starting my Project Life! And Pretty Little Studio sells lots of adorable products that are suitable for PL! AHHH.  Can you tell I am in love with this store yet??!

For the card, I used some designer paper from Crate Paper and some of their coordinating stickers.  I die cut a small tag and tied a small twine bow.  And I used some Mr. Huey’s for the white paint splotches.  The rose is from Michael’s, and it was a last minute addition because it was out on my desk.  Now I am off to fill up my shopping cart over at Pretty Little Studio! Yay!

Paper Smooches Picture Perfect

I am loving the new challenges at the Paper Smooches Sparks site.  This week they shared a lovely inspiration photo.

If I could play the piano, I’d want that one.  And those plates! My, oh my! I was inspired by the color, florals on the plates, pattern on the wall and placement of the vases.

I stamped/embossed the circles in various sizes, to mimic the plates, using my newly aquired Gently Seasoned Stamp Set.  The sentiment is from Sentiment Sampler set.  I added some Crate Paper punched paper and rhinestones for a few finishing touches.

The Spatter Technique & Case Study

I created this SIMPLE little  card for a couple challenges…Moxie Fab World’s Spatter Technique & Case Study.  Aga is one talented card maker.  My card has nothing on hers, but I was inspired none-the-less.  I used some Mr. Huey’s for the grey and aqua  spatter, and paint for the yellow.  A simple sentiment, die cut heart, and button..and was done! Piece of cake.

Can you see my pot peeking through in the background.  I created a matching set of painted terracotta pots , complete with paint spatter and all, for my herb garden.  Check out my blog post with all the details here!

Cas-ual Fridays….Feathered Friends…Take Two!

This is my second card for this week’s Cas-ual Fridays challenge, themed “feathered friends.”  I “found” this stamp set when I was looking around, and I don’t think I’ve ever used it.  I grabbed it on the clearance rack at Michael’s.  Love a deal.

All the paper is from Crate Paper.  I’m addicted.  And I spritzed some Mr. Huey’s onto the woodgrain panel.  The sentiment is from My Favorite Things, and I actually cut it so I could use it all in one row.  Yes, I cut my stamp.  I don’t know what got into me, usually I would only stamp part of the sentiment.  It turned out well, and you can easily use it in it’s original format too, so it’s really no big whoop! Maybe I’ll get crazy and do it again sometime…..
