Moxie Fab World {Thank You}

There are all sorts of challenges over at Moxie Fab World this month!! I had more time last night, so I created this card for the Stamp It! Cards Week  Thank You challenge.   I didn’t have time to post last night….watched Contagion.  Yikes!! I am certainly trying to avoid touching my face today!!!! Anyways…I used mostly October Afternoon stamps  here, with a Papertrey Ink sentiment.  I stamped the doilies, then cut them out and layered them up.  I also stamped “buttons.”  And I masked off the sentiment stamp to use two colors.

I even dusted off my sewing machine for this one.  Literally, it was dusty.  And I splattered a bunch of yellow paint at the end….and crossed my fingers I didn’t totally mess my entire card up at the very end.

Have a great day!!!

My Container Herb Garden

Today I would like to share a non-card project I’ve been working on over the last couple weeks.  Since the husbo and I moved into our lovely home in the fall, we’ve been not-so-patiently awaiting the spring.  We’ve been dyinngg to plant a garden full of veggies and herbs.  And we did it!!!!! Finished it this weekend! Yay! We have 3 raised garden beds in the yard for all the veggies…. tomatoes, peppers, peas, carrots, lettuces, radishes, beets, etc.  I wanted to keep all my herbs nice and close to the house, so on the deck they needed to go.  I wanted a hodge podge of ctonainers, so over the past few weeks I have scoured local antique shops and fairs, and collected a few vintage boxes to plant my herbs in.

And all that seemed to get pricey rather quickly.  So what is a girl to do?  After lots of Pinteresting, I decided I would give a go at creating my own distressed terracotta pots.  I picked up four pots at Michael’s and a new skinny paintbrush.  ( I have a terrrrrrrible lazy habit of not washing my brushes out after painting and having to throw them away.  Everything else  had at home.  Cheap. And my husband loooves that!

Materials for pots:

Terracotta pots, acrylic paint, brushes, electric sander, graphite paper, free font from the net, printer

Directions:

1. First I messily painted the pots.  Then I splattered paint on them (and on the wall! yikes!)

2. Then I sanded the pots down with the electric sander in random places to create a worn/aged/distressed look, with the natural terracotta showing through.

3. I found a font that I liked on the net, called Past Due. I downloaded and installed the font.  Then I typed up the numbers in a Word document, font size 170, and printed it the numbers out onto regular white computer paper.

4.  Then I cut around the numbers – just a rough square.  Then I taped that right on top of some graphite paper that was cut just a bit bigger.  Then adhered the graphite/number paper combo right onto the pot.  Next up I used a pencil to trace the printed number, creating a transferred image directly onto the pot.

5.  Slowllllly paint the numbers on the pots!

6. Plant your herbs.

7.  Eat your herbs all summer long!

Uh oh! I took this before I added my cute little pinwheel to my basil “tool” box! I picked that pinwheel up at Target! It was hard to only buy one….

Valentine’s S’mores Treats

Good evening!! I just finished up making lots of boxes of yummy S’mores treats for some co-workers for Valentine’s Day.  I was totally inspired by Cath’s Trigger Tuesday over Moxie Fab World.  And I this is a totally “fancy schmancy” way to package up these treats.  I used the cupcake wrappers, doily, colors, food.  And I had the best intentions to top these all off with pretty nonpareils, buuuuut, I am pretty sure I left them, unpaid for, on the checkout counter at Michael’s today.  Oh well.

I used kraft cupcake boxes and glued a doily on top.  I die cut hearts from cardboard and sprinkled on some white paint.  I die cut a butterfly and stamped it with text and made it “fly” off the heart.  A few rhinestones and that’s the top.

I punched out a few holes in the box and threaded my twine through.  I die cut tags and added those. (haha, you see my cursive handwriting, I had to practice because I suck at cursive.  I am totally jealous of anyone that has fancy cursive.) The other side of the tag is stamped in text too, just no photo of that. I added lots of that crinkly kraft paper inside to make it look pretty.

And there’s the yummy S’more treat.  That’s a lovely Martha Stewart mini cupcake liner, it’s resting in. (look at that buttery grease peeping throught!)  Click here for a link to my Pinterest board where you can find this to-die-for recipe.  It’s so easy, and all my friends have gone nuts over these guys.  Literally, I made these for a New Year’s Eve party and there was talk about hiding secret stashes of them so no one else would eat them.

And one more close of the top of my box!

Twisted Sketches #90

And the first card is up for the new design team over at Twisted Sketches! The “twist” this week was “new.”  I used a new stamp, a lovely gift from my crafty friend, Nicole! I also tried a couple new techniques for me, I embossed the circle with a nestability.  Then I masked the area and stamped the words and sprayed it with paint.

Eye Heart You

I made this card the other day, just for the love of stamping.  Goodness gracious I know I am lame.   But sometimes it’s nice just to make a card because you feel like it…no challenges, submissions, or special occasions…ya know, no pressure.  So of course I used more Paper Smooches stamps.  I combined  a couple sets…Boob Tubes, Smoocheroos, and Falling for you.  Paper Smooches are perfect for mixing around like that…

Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge…2

I was so inspired, that I created 2 cards to the Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge… See my first card here.

This time I stuck with the Chit Chat sentiment set.  I colored with a rainbow array of Copics.

I added glossy accents to all the colored parts and I cut out the word “thanks” and popped it up for interest.  And I couldn’t resist more gray paper with white paint spritzed on there.

And the green polka dot fabric is a wrap from Bo Bunny that I won a few months ago.  I will definitely be back for more Paper Smooches fun. Here is the inspiration photo…so pretty….

Candy Treat Bags

I love candy.  Who doesn’t?!  I decided to make little candy treat bags for some co-workers.  I plan to leave them on their desks for a cute and yummy work day treat.  While shopping at Michael’s, I grabbed those little kraft bags.  I just dolled ‘em up a bit with some pretty Christmas paper and little tags.

Each bag has two Ghiradelli peppermint bark candies.  The pretty striped wrappers stick out the top, which I initially was really annoyed about.  But the wrappers are festive and match, so I went with it!

And I am thrilled that each bag fit no more than two candies, because there are a few leftover for me! (I might have eaten one at 9am this morning when I was making these….yummmooo)

I am entering this project over at Casual Fridays, brown paper packages tied up with string!

Gift Tags

I made this set of 3 matching double sided gift tags to sell in my Etsy shop.  I just LOVE that little saying “Go Ahead, Live a Little, Rip it Open.” It’s from MFT.  It’s getting sooo cold outside when I snap my photos.  What am I going to do when it starts snowing?!

And you see that twine wrapped Christmas tree with the text snowflakes that the tag is propped against?  Well, I made that the other day.  It took me FOREVER.  My hands were cramping from all that twine wrapping.
